Mitt Romney wins big in Bridgewater Straw Poll
Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney won 61% of the votes in the 2012 Bridgewater Republican Straw Poll held on February 13th at Barrett's Alehouse. Rick Santorum (19%) and Newt Gingrich (14%) came in a distant 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Ron Paul finished last with 5% of the vote.
The Straw Poll was sponsored by the Bridgewater Republican Town Committee and was open to all Republican and Independent voters. While waiting for the results, attendees were able to speak with special guests Rep. Angelo D'Emilia (R-Bridgewater), Rep. Shaunna O'Connell (R-Taunton) and Matt Cocciardi from the Massachusetts Republican Party.
Next up for Bridgewater voters is the Presidential Primary on Tuesday, March 6th. The primary will determine which candidates will be receive the votes of our 41 delegates at the Republican National Convention in August.
Bridgewater GOP Chair Honored for Service
Bill Rivers was honored for his years of service to the Republican Party by the Plymouth County GOP at their annual awards breakfast on February 11th. State Representative Angelo D'Emilia introduced Bill to the crowd and presented him with a citation from the Massachusetts House of Representative as well as certificate from the Plymouth County GOP.
